How Property Works is supporting Best Buddies international to Help End the Isolation of People with IDD

Through our support of Best Buddies International, we work to help people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) form meaningful friendships, secure successful jobs, live independently, and develop self-advocacy and communication skills. About Best Buddies
Best buddies international was founded in 1989 (and has the iconic Keith Haring logo to prove it) by Anthony Kennedy Shriver in order to foster one-to-one friendships between people with and without IDD. Over the last 33 years, the organization has become a leading nonprofit entity with an expanding international footprint across six continents, including all 50 states and 47 countries. Their impact has been wide-reaching and deeply felt in all the communities where their programs operate, from the peer-to-peer Friendship programs in schools to the Best Buddies Jobs programs and beyond.
Making Friends in Georgia
While Best Buddies International has been around for a while, the organization only recently expanded its reach into Georgia, in 2018. Property Works immediately got involved, becoming a gold sponsor of the annual Champion of the Year fundraising competition. In 2019, our CEO, Kim Finnegan, became a member of the Expansion Board. We are so excited to continue to help build Best Buddies' presence in Georgia, which already has 35 chapters in 19 cities, as of December 2021.
Champion of the Year
Every year, Best Buddies holds Champion of the Year, a competitive fundraiser wherein nominated Champions, who are some of the most active advocates in the community, raise money for Best Buddies over the course of 8-12 weeks. At the end of the campaign, the Champion of the Year Gala celebrates and recognizes the impact of all the Champions while crowning one the ultimate Champion of the Year. Property Works has sponsored a Champion of the Year every year since 2019 🏆
